Raphael Cervantez naaresto dahil sa pagpatay ng mangroves, corals upang bumuo subdivision sa Palawan

Department of Environment and National Resources (DENR) together with National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested Raphael Cervantes the man behind the killings of thousands of mangrove and corals to build a subdivision in Puerto Princesa Palawan.

Cervantez ay naaresto sa tulong ng NBI at AFP Western Command sa pamumuno ni Lt. General Raul del Rosario at Undersecretary Art. Sa kabila ng mga dokumento ay nagpakita sa pamamagitan ng Cervantez, DENR sinabi na ito ay hindi pa rin sapat upang payagan ang mga ito upang bumuo ng isang ari-arian sa isang pamahalaan protektadong lugar. Ayon sa DENR Secretary Gina Lopez, ang mangroves ay protektado ng batas at isang government property.

Siya kahit na nagbanggit ng pagkakomportable ng PNP Provincial Director Ruben Sarmiento para coddling ang grupo ng mga Cervantez at sinusubukan upang labanan ang operasyon ng NBI at DENR. Ang DENR na inalis ang mga bakod at iba pang mga istraktura na natagpuan sa mangrove reserve at Kalihim Lopez ay naging mas malungkot kapag nakita niya ang mga bangkay ng mangroves at corals na naging ang pundasyon para sa subdivision.

“We found corpses of mangroves and corals piled up as a foundation for the subdivision they were building! This is unacceptable!!” Secretary Gina Lopez wrote in her post.

Cervantez may face life in prison if he was proven guilty on what he did to the environment.
